On most phones, turning on Data Roaming for your WonderConnect eSIM does not turn it on for your primary SIM or use mobile data from your home provider.
Most modern phones manage roaming settings separately for each SIM or eSIM. Make sure:
Your WonderConnect eSIM is selected as the Mobile Data line.
Data Roaming is turned on for your WonderConnect eSIM.
Data Roaming is turned off for your primary SIM.
Allow Mobile Data Switching, or a similar setting, is turned off.
With these settings, your phone will use your WonderConnect plan for mobile data.
Your phone usually remembers your mobile data and roaming settings, but it may change the active data line after certain actions.
Always check that your setup is correct:
After arriving at your destination and turning off Airplane Mode.
After restarting your phone.
After turning your eSIM off and on again.
After resetting your mobile network or network settings.
After switching between SIMs or changing the Mobile Data line.
Whenever your eSIM shows a signal but mobile data does not work.
Make sure your WonderConnect eSIM is on, selected for Mobile Data, and has Data Roaming enabled. Also check that automatic data switching is off.
Some Android phones show one global Data Roaming switch instead of separate roaming controls for each SIM. This can happen on both older and newer devices. It depends mainly on the phone manufacturer, model, carrier configuration, and software build.
There is no single Android version that determines whether roaming controls are global or separate. Google Pixel phones with multiple active SIMs generally provide separate mobile network settings for each SIM. Some Samsung Galaxy models and software builds show one combined Data Roaming switch instead.
With your WonderConnect eSIM selected for mobile data and automatic switching turned off, your phone should use the eSIM for its internet connection.
Your home provider may still charge you if your primary SIM uses mobile data or if you make or receive calls or SMS while abroad.
The safest option is to turn off your primary SIM for the duration of your trip. If you want to keep it active for calls or SMS, make sure Data Roaming and automatic data switching remain turned off for that SIM.
