WonderConnect eSIMs are data-only. They provide mobile data, but they do not include phone calls or SMS. WonderConnect has no control over carrier charges for calls or SMS.
Your home carrier may charge you if you:
Send SMS messages.
Make phone calls.
Receive SMS messages.
Receive phone calls.
Please contact your carrier for billing details.
If your carrier charged you for mobile data roaming, your phone may have used your primary SIM instead of your WonderConnect eSIM.
This can happen if Allow Mobile Data Switching or a similar setting was turned on. Many smartphones have a setting that allows the phone to automatically switch between SIMs or eSIMs when the connection quality is poor. The phone does this to keep you connected, but it does not know this may cause extra roaming charges from your home carrier.
For example, if your WonderConnect eSIM loses signal for a short moment, your phone may automatically switch to your primary SIM for mobile data. In that case, mobile data may be used through your home carrier without a clear warning.
We always recommend turning this feature off. This step is included in our installation and activation guides.
When you turn off airplane mode, your apps may start refreshing in the background. Photos, messages, maps, email, or cloud backups may also start using mobile data through your regular carrier before you have a chance to activate the eSIM.
To prevent this, always check the settings for your primary SIM and make sure Data Roaming is turned off for that SIM.
The safest option is to turn off your primary SIM for the duration of your trip. This prevents your phone from using your home carrier for mobile data, calls, or SMS while you are abroad.
