Google Pixel - How to Activate eSIM Mobile Data

Your data plan starts when your eSIM first connects to a foreign network, which happens when you enable data roaming at your destination.

Please follow the steps dedicated to your Android version:

• eSIM activation for Android 14

• eSIM activation for Android 15

Start eSIM activation on Android 14

1. Open Settings:

   • Go to Network & internet.

   • Tap SIMs.

   

2. Tap the eSIM name (it is likely that you see Data eSIM):

   • Tap the toggle in Use this eSIM.

   • In the pop-up, tap Turn on.

   

   • In the “Use eSIM for mobile data” pop-up, tap Use Data eSIM. This button may be labeled differently, depending on the name of your eSIM.

   • In the “Improve mobile data coverage” pop-up, tap No thanks.

   

Turn On Data Roaming for Your eSIM

3. Scroll down and turn on roaming:

   • Tap the Roaming toggle.

   • In the “Allow data roaming?” pop-up tap OK.

   

Turn Off Data Roaming for Personal Number

4. Tap the arrow to return to SIMs settings:

   • Tap the eSIM with your home country number.

   • Turn off Roaming.

   
   

   Your home carrier may charge you for incoming calls or messages even when data roaming is off. We are not responsible for these charges.

Test the Connection

5. Turn off Wi-Fi and browse the internet. As you use data for the first time, we will send you an SMS confirmation of successful activation.

   Your eSIM is now active!

   

   If you use the WonderConnect mobile app, the data usage bar will update within 10 minutes of your first data use.

Start eSIM activation on Android 15

1. Open Settings:

   • Go to Network & internet.

   • Tap SIMs.

   

2. Turn on your eSIM:

   • Tap the toggle next to its name.

   • In the “Set your eSIM preferences”, tap Get started.

   

If your eSIM is already on

On the SIMs view:

1. Scroll to Your Primary SIMs section.
2. Tap Mobile data.
3. Select Travel eSIM and make sure Automatic data switching is off.
4. Follow the instructions from the step Turn On Data Roaming for Your eSIM.

3. On the “Label your SIMs” screen:

   • Tap Next.

   

4. On the "Set your primary SIMs" screen:

   • Tap Mobile data.

   • Select your Travel eSIM.

   • Make sure Automatic data switching is off.

   • Tap Done.

   

Turn On Data Roaming for Your eSIM

4. Tap your Travel eSIM:

   • Turn on Roaming.

   • In the “Allow data roaming” pop-up, tap OK.

   

Turn Off Roaming for Your Primary Number

5. Go back SIMs:

   • Tap your Primary number.

   • Turn off Data Roaming.
